Dear Friends, Shavua Tov! We hope this finds you well. As we head into the final stretch leading up to Rosh Hashanah, we wanted to share a few important updates/reminders about the High Holidays this year at Beth Sholom. Please review this information carefully - some of it applies only to those who are attending services, but some of it applies to everyone!
Thank you again to all of the volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make this year's High Holidays a success!

Information for Everyone - Including Those who are not attending services:
- Communal Shofar Blowing: If you are not attending davening but would still like to hear shofar being blown, there will be an opportunity to do so. Please click on this link and go to the second page to see a full schedule of times and locations.
- Machzors: If you would like to borrow a machzor from the shul, you are welcome to stop by during the week to pick one up. The office will be open from 8:00-4:00. If these times do not work for you, please email clergy@bethsholom.org to set up another time to pick up a machzor. For those davening at shul, machzors will be available. We will ask that you take your machzor home with you after services and bring it back for each subsequent service you attend. Your machzor can be returned at the end of each holiday, or at a later point in time (you can drop it off during office hours).
- High Holiday Reader: If you would like to submit a written piece of any length to our High Holiday reader, please feel free to email Rabbi Cooper. Deadline is 11:00 AM on Monday morning, September 14th. Topics can include reflections on specific tefilot, meaningful stories, or anything that relates to the themes of the High Holidays.
- Message from Michael Koplow: A High Holidays message from Beth Sholom was sent by Michael Koplow (Beth Sholom President) on friday. Please click here to read the email if you missed it.
- Sermons: This year, Rabbi Antine and Rabbi Cooper will be recording their sermons in advance. We will send out these recordings prior to Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We will also be distributing printed copies of the sermons.
- High Holiday Davening Recording: With gratitude to Abe Cherrick, we are pleased to be able to make available a recording of the entire Rosh Hashanah davening. Please click here to access the recording
- Class on Making the Most of the High Holidays this Year: On Monday, September 14th at 12:15 PM in the Brodie Zoom Room- www.bethsholom.org/zoom, password 613613- the rabbis will be offering a class for those not attending davening at shul this year, who are interested in discussing how to make the High Holidays as meaningful as possible from home. This class will be recorded should you not be able to attend. We will also be distributing a “guide for davening at home” in the days leading up to Rosh Hashanah.

Information For those attending services:
- Getting your Tickets: We will be emailing tickets this coming Tuesday, September 15th. Please look out for an email which will have an attachment containing your ticket. You will receive one email per ticket (i.e. if you reserved 4 seats you will get 4 emails). Please print out each ticket and bring it/them with you on the High Holidays. If you do not receive an email with the ticket, please let our office know. If you do not have access to a printer, please let us know. If you are seated indoors, you will have an assigned seat. If you are seated outdoors, you will have an assigned “tent” but no assigned seat within the tent. Please see your ticket for further instructions for how to choose a seat once you enter your tent.
- Ticket Policy: As in years past, only those who have registered will be allowed to enter. This year, we will unfortunately have to be even more strict than previous years - so that we do not exceed the permissible number of attendees. We will have lists of registrants for those without tickets, though we ask that you try your best to remember your ticket! Note that this does not apply for mincha and maariv services, which anyone can attend without a ticket.
- Schedule: Please click here for a full schedule of all services (starting with selichot tonight at 10:30 PM!). As a reminder, only those with tickets will be able to attend Shacharit and musaf. You may attend services in the evening without a ticket. Please note that the schedule for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur morning is very tight - it is crucial that everyone arrives on time so that we can ensure a minyan at the start time of each service! if you are attending the “early” shift we ask that you leave as soon as possible after the service concludes.
- Parking: We encourage everyone to walk to shul on Erev Rosh Hashana and Eruv Yom Kippur. Most of the parking lot will have tents and there will be very limited parking. If you live far away and need to park at shul, please contact the office and we will do our best to reserve a spot for you (there will be a very limited number of spots available).
- Health and Safety Guidelines: Our Health Committee has developed important guidelines for the Beth Sholom community to stay as healthy and safe as possible. Please click here for the guidelines . We ask that everyone review this document in advance of attending services!
- RSVP for Neilah following Rosh Hashanah: Please look out for a form emailed to you right after Rosh Hashanah that will ask if you plan on attending Neilah. It is very important that we get as accurate of a count as possible! We hope you will complete this survey in a timely manner!
