GEMACH

Welcome to the Beth Sholom Simcha Gemach!  Gemach is an acronym for Gemilat Chasadim which means “acts of kindness”.  We have a collection of items useful for various simchas and parties that are available to borrow by anyone in the greater Washington Jewish community.  We also accept donations of appropriate items (see below).  In addition, if you have an item that you are willing to lend out but prefer to keep at your own home (i.e. folding chairs), please contact the Gemach coordinator.   

~  Please note that the Gemach is run by volunteers, not by Beth Sholom, so please do not contact the shul office for any Gemach related issues.  To borrow an item, or for any Gemach related questions, please contact Deborah Wilbur at Gemach@bethsholom.org.  The Gemach is available by appointment only. ~  When returning items, please arrange for a drop off time with the Gemach coordinator.  Please plan on bringing the items back yourself at the agreed upon time and returning them to the storage room.  Please do not return items to the shul office or to the Gemach coordinator. 

~  Please return items in the condition in which they were borrowed.  If you break or lose something, please consider replacing it or making a small cash donation so that the item can be replaced and used by others.

~  Please return all items within 10 days of your event.

~  To donate to the Gemach, please contact Gemach@bethsholom.org.  Please do not drop items off at the shul.  Please only donate items that are in good condition and would be useful to others, as space is at a premium.  Not all items can be accepted and must be approved by the coordinator.

~  Please note that the Gemach is currently run by one volunteer.  Please be flexible and considerate of her time when borrowing, returning or donating items.

~  In addition to the items available listed below, we also have a Party City discount card that you may use.  For purchases of $50 or more, the card entitles you to discounts of 10-20% off (dependent on total purchase price).  For more info contact Gemach@bethsholom.org.
