![]() MENDY RUTSTEIN DAF YOMI FUND FOR TORAH STUDY Dec 2011 As you all know, Beth Sholom recently lost one of our beloved congregants, Mendy Rutstein. Mendy was a friend to many of us and an inspiration to all. Since Mendy’s passing the shul has been looking for an appropriate way to honor his memory. We are now delighted to announce that the Rutstein family has made an incredibly generous contribution to the shul. The Rutstein family will match dollar for dollar (up to a certain level) contributions made to the shul in Mendy’s memory so that the shul may name our Daf Yomi program the Mendy Rutstein Daf Yomi Program. I am also delighted to announce the generosity of a number of congregants who have already stepped forward to make founding pledges in Mendy’s honor. Rabbi Joel and Avia Tessler have contributed $1,000 to the program; Rabbi Nissan and Sarah Antine, $1,000; Bruce and Shelly Weiner, $1,000; Mindy Suchinsky, $1,000; and Lester and Shelley Severe, $500. Thus, $9,000 has already been raised in Mendy’s memory. I ask all of you to look into your hearts and consider making as generous a contribution as you can to the Mendy Rutstein Daf Yomi Program. As many of you know, there will be a world-wide celebration this August marking the completion of a complete cycle of Talmud study. The celebration will take place at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. Near that time we will have a special event at Beth Sholom to mark the beginning of a new cycle of Talmud study. We will use that event formally to honor Mendy’s memory through a community-wide Talmud study session.
